I'm Ellen, Fly Me!

I've already found the first female Hispanic astronaut (see Jan 17th below), but did you know there's another airborne Ellen first?

Ellen Church was the world's first airline "stewardess". She was a nurse at the time and proposed the idea to United Airlines who accepted it. In 1930, "Sky Girls" was born. Ellen did much more than fluff pillows as this hometown Des Moine newspaper article explains.

Quite an interesting bit of history. I'm sure enjoying all of these Ellen finds and hope whoever stops by here, does too.
